An NRT™ neodymium radial magnet motor submerses the 32.6 mm, underhung voice coil in magnetic flux for supreme control, low distortion, high output (for its size), and wide frequency range without stray magnetic fields that could potentially damage sensitive electronics, while the extreme venting provided by a capless pole piece evacuates air that would otherwise be compressed (in a driver this size). A titanium cone is mated to a foam surround to reduce cone breakup, for an extremely linear frequency response from 250 to 15,000 Hz. The low, 250 Hz free air resonance combines with 3 mm of Xmax (6 mm maximum peak-to-peak excursion) to allow for low crossover points, meaning you can pair the Whisper with nearly any woofer up to 5 feet away (2-1/2 ft. is the recommended maximum) seamlessly. FAQ about the Aurasound AST-2B-4 bass shakerWhat is the difference between the AST-2B-4 and the Dayton Audio BST-1?There are many similarities between the Dayton Audio BST-1 and the AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro. Still, there are a few minor differences (such as the size of the binding posts). The main difference is that the AST-2B-4 Pro performs a bit better at lower frequencies than the BST-1 per watt. The AST-2B-4 Pro is more sensitive. How do I connect 2 shakers to my receiver?This type of transducer is not really designed to work directly through an amplifier, we usually recommend using a dedicated subwoofer amplifier, for example the Dayton Audio APA150 could fulfil that need. Connect your two shakers in series and connect them to the APA150 in bridge mode with the low-pass filter switched on. Is the AuraSound AST-2B-4 frequency linear?It depends on the surface it is mounted on, but any shaker will have a resonance peak in free air, not mounted.
